Fly to Nice, meet your Tour Manager and cross the border to your hotel in Pietra Ligure, on the Italian Riviera.
Spend your first day unwinding at the hotel and soaking up the pretty coastal surroundings. Take a dip in the pool, retreat to one of the private beaches - where there will be a restaurant and a bar, and sun-loungers are available for hire - or take a stroll along the seafront promenade, which leads to the resort's characterful old town. The more energetic might also rent a pedalo or even a wind-surfing board.
Today we'll travel along the beautiful Ligurian Coast, where some of Italy's most famous resorts are backed by wooded hills and fronted by a glittering shoreline. We'll visit elegant Santa Margherita Ligure, which lies at the eastern end of the Portofino headland and boasts pretty gardens, piazzas and views over a stunning bay. After some time to explore, board a boat for a trip along the coast to the glamorous, ultra-chic neighbouring town of Portofino, which remains one of the Mediterranean's most idyllic settings. The day will also take in plush, bustling Rapallo, a one-time writers' retreat that hosted D H Lawrence among its many celebrated guests.
Cross the border into glitzy Monaco, the wealthy city-state on France's Mediterranean coastline. See the famous Casino, the Palais Princier - home to the Rainier family - and the harbour crammed with sumptuous yachts, around which the annual Formula 1 takes place in an explosion of colour and noise. Our journey to Monaco takes us above the beautiful Riviera of Flowers and reveals some sensational views of the blue Mediterranean below. En route, we'll also make a short call in the colourful border town of Ventimiglia if time permits.
Enjoy another restful day relaxing at the hotel or on the beach, making the most of the coastal setting.
Uncover the dazzling beauty of the Cinque Terre, or 'Five Lands', on today's final excursion. On this gorgeous coastline, a quintet of colourful villages are squeezed into a series of tiny coves. Pastel-painted houses cling haphazardly to the craggy cliffs, which overlook working fishing harbours and are surrounded by vineyards that produce some of Liguria's most celebrated wines.
Spend a last day soaking up the atmosphere of your Mediterranean retreat, before enjoying a farewell dinner of typical Ligurian fare, which includes several varieties of fish and pasta.
